Founded in history

A farm with stories as rich as its flavors.

Historic Glendower Farm holds a rich legacy of warm hospitality that stretches all the way back to Colonial America. Founded by Welsh Quakers before the Revolutionary War, the stately stone manor stands on rolling acres north of Philadelphia, nestled among fragrant wild rose thickets and hundred year-old sycamores. The homestead was granted as settlement of a debt from King George III to the family of William Penn, becoming part of the historic land that would shape Pennsylvania. Its fields, gardens, and winding trails remain much as they were centuries ago.

Over centuries, Glendower Farm was home to generations of prominent entrepreneurial families, many of whom were listed in the storied Philadelphia Social Register—the predecessors of today’s "Jet Setters". These families were known not only for their influence, but also for the effortless elegance with which they entertained guests, turning the estate into a social landmark

In 1980, stewardship of the estate passed from the Hollingsworth family—who had cared for it for more than a century—to Tom and Joanne Balshi. With great attention and affection, the Balshis restored the property to museum quality, converting its weathered barn into a space meant for gathering and celebration. Spirited evenings breathed new life into the historic walls. Their daughter Annie, now President and CEO of B.E. Princess, was raised in the heart of Glendower Farm, where hospitality, heritage, and heartfelt tradition were part of everyday life.

With Annie’s culinary arts degree, and yearning for fresh creations, Glendower Farm “Snacks” & Condiments came about organically, inspired by the abundantly filled cupboards of the kitchen at the heart of the estate. Guests arrived often and were always greeted with a generous spread of spirits, zesty and salty snacks, and delicate homemade sweets — all served with a sense of comfort and care.
